After losing 60-0 in the corresponding fixture last season, the Kent girls, and parents! approached the game with some trepidation, which was entirely unnecassary. Kent took the game to Herts from the start, with their forwards comfortable in the set piece and in the loose. Kent took the lead with a long range effort from Jaz, from at least 12 inches, after good early work from Abigail and Ellen. The conversion was missed but more pressure resulted in a penalty from Flo. Finally Herts got into the game and from a rare attack late in the first half Herts scored from close range to leave the half-time score at 8-7 to Kent.
In the second half Herts made several telling substitutions and realised that their strength lay out wide and scored tries down the right wing, before a slashing break from their flyhalf gave them a converted try under the posts. A final effort from a 5 meter penalty gave Lydia, who had a storming game at hooker, a last score for Kent, and a final score of 24-13 to Herts.
