If your son starts Year 7 in September 2024, then they are very welcome to join us at the friendliest rugby club in South East London! We welcome new players regardless of ability or experience with an offer of a free home training session so parents and prospective players can get a feel for the team and club.
Please visit our club shop/membership for details of our membership plans. Instalment options are available.
At Beckenham we aim to promote your child's rugby development by creating an environment that encourages fun, learning, confidence building, teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.
This season the team consists of 12 players. with the nearest five players forming the scrum – strike, no push. We will start to kick (no fly hack).
The coaching staff take care to ensure that all players are involved in the sessions, irrespective of ability and that everyone gets half a game playing time in each match across the season. All sessions, festivals and matches will run in accordance with England Rugby guidelines.
We host and visit a number of local clubs throughout the season before our traditional end of season squad tour around April (extra cost).
Training takes place every Sunday between 9:15 am and 10:45 am during the September – April rugby season. Please look at the fixtures and results button to see where we are on any given weekend. After training, everyone is welcome to join the coaching staff in the clubhouse for a bite to eat and drink.
The only essential equipment your child will need is a moulded gum shield. You can pick this up at the club shop or any sports retailer. Players should also have a good breakfast before training and bring water and snack with them to eat during the session.
As the weather cools down, please make sure your child wears a thermal base layer and has an extra top to keep warm. They can take them off if they get hot, but you can't put them on if you don't have them with you in the first place. Rugby gloves are fine.
Get in touch with Head Coach Alan McGinley if you have any additional questions about joining the team.
