Beckenham confirm men's senior squad coaching structure for 2020/21 season

Matt Hankin returns to Balmoral Avenue

Dan Brown continues as Head Coach for his fifth season at the club. Dan is a RFU Level 3 coach and will be ably assisted by Lovejoy Chawatama, Matt Hankin and Jamie Pinn.

Lovejoy Chawatama will expand on his role as forwards coach to also include overall leadership of the strength and conditioning programme. A product of the Beckenham RFC player pathway, Lovejoy joined London Irish from London Welsh in 2017, making 16 appearances for the Exiles during the 2019/20 season. Lovejoy will continue to balance his role at Beckenham whilst playing for London Irish and the 2017 Zimbabwe Sports Personality of the Year looks forward to leading what is a very promising Beckenham pack.

Matt Hankin is another product of the Beckenham Youth Section and returns to the club following a professional career with Saracens which was unfortunately cut short by injury. As flanker Matt made 13 appearances for the North London club, alongside side winning 4 England U20 caps. Matt has been working as Deputy Director of Rugby at Haileybury School and is returning to London to undertake his teacher training. Matt will have overall responsibility for the both the lineout and defence for the 2020/21 season.

Jamie Pinn continues his role as lead coach for the 2nd XV. Jamie re-joined the coaching staff last season following a successful playing career at the club, making an immediate impact. Well respected by his fellow coaches and players alike, Jamie oversaw the successful transition of a number of players from the 2nd XV to the 1st XV last season. His knowledgeable and calm approach ensures that all players are guided and supported as they strive to improve.
